Terminal for a power module and method for manufacturing a terminal for a power module

A power module comprising:

• a terminal of the terminal comprising:
• a first broad portion;
• a second broad portion;
• and
• at least one bridge connecting the first broad portion and the second broad portion to each other, wherein the at least one bridge comprises a main section and at least one extension,
• wherein the at least one extension extends from a lateral edge of the main section, and
• wherein at least a part of the at least one extension is arranged at a bending angle larger than zero to a plane of the main section and/or wherein the at least one extension comprises at least one separate part fixed to the main section;
• and
• one or more substrates wherein the one or more feet of the terminal are connected to one or more substrate metallizations or electronic devices on the one or more substrates.

A method for manufacturing terminal, for a power module, the terminal comprising:

• a first broad portion:
• a second broad portion;
• and
• at least one bridge connecting the first broad portion and the second broad portion to each other, wherein the at least one bridge comprises a main section and at least one extension,
• wherein the at least one extension extends from a lateral edge of the main section, and
• wherein at least a part of the at least one extension is arranged at a bending angle larger than zero to a plane of the main section and/or wherein the at least one extension comprises at least one separate part fixed to the main section, the method comprising:
• providing a metal plate;
• forming the at least one bridge by removing material from the metal plate;
• and
• forming the at least one extension by removing the material from the metal plate and bending or by attaching a separate part to the metal plate.
