Column-oriented databases management

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a set of instructions for executing a SQL database query, the set of instructions comprising:

• one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processing circuitries of a device, cause the device to:
• divide the SQL database query into one or more instructions to generate a respective instruction set, wherein each instruction in the instruction set is represented by a query specific leaf node in an existing hierarchical data structure;
• generate an updated data structure based on the existing hierarchical data structure, wherein the hierarchical data structure is a directed acyclic graph data structure and wherein each instruction of the one or more instructions is represented by a respective node in the updated data structure;
• determine a respective intermediate for each instruction in the instruction set, further comprising:
• retrieve the intermediate from a cache when a respective intermediate is available in the cache
• execute an instruction to determine a respective intermediate when a respective intermediate is not available in the cache;
• and
• provide a query result using the determined intermediates.

A system for executing a SQL database query comprising:

• a processing circuitry;
• a memory, the memory containing instructions that, when executed by the processing circuitry, configure the system to:
• divide the SQL database query into one or more instructions to generate a respective instruction set, wherein each instruction in the instruction set is represented by a query specific leaf node in an existing hierarchical data structure;
• generate an updated data structure based on the existing hierarchical data structure, wherein the hierarchical data structure is a directed acyclic graph data structure and wherein each instruction of the one or more instructions is represented by a respective node in the updated data structure;
• determine a respective intermediate for each instruction in the instruction set, further comprising:
• retrieve the intermediate from a cache when a respective intermediate is available in the cache execute an instruction to determine a respective intermediate when a respective intermediate is not available in the cache;
• and
• provide a query result using the determined intermediates.
