Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes a first heating rotator that heats a toner image forming surface of a continuous recording medium; a pressing rotator that presses the recording medium toward the first heating rotator; a second heating rotator that heats the pressing rotator; and a pressing-separating switcher that switches a state of the first heating rotator and the pressing rotator between a pressed state and a separated state. The pressing-separating switcher: brings the pressing rotator and the second heating rotator into a contact state when the first heating rotator and the pressing rotator are in the separated state; and brings the pressing rotator and the second heating rotator into a separated state when the first heating rotator and the pressing rotator are in the pressed state.
