An insulated, fire-resistant pre-fabricated drywall panel assembly is presented. The drywall panel assembly may be assembled from one or more fire-resistant drywall panels, and the panels are designed for seamless installation when placed adjacently. Each drywall panel incorporates a number of layers, including one or more fire-resistant drywall layers, a layer of thermal and acoustic insulation, and sheet metal layers as appropriate. The combination of these layers provides enhanced fire resistance, improved thermal insulation, and reduced sound transmission. When coupled with the seamless installation of adjacent panels, this construction not only improves fire-resistance and minimizes smoke intrusion between sections of a building, but also maintains or enhances the energy efficiency and acoustic performance of the building envelope. The insulation layer may comprise, for example, a flame-retardant polyurethane foam or other suitable insulating material, the selection and thickness of which may be adjusted based on fire-rating, thermal performance, and acoustic requirements.
