Abstract
The invention relates to a method for completely transferring a liquid received by a first cavity of a centrifugal microfluidic chip to a second cavity of the centrifugal microfluidic chip by of a liquid-carrying conduit that connects the first cavity and the second cavity.
Claims13
A method for the complete transfer of a liquid received by a first cavity of a centrifugal microfluidic biochip into a second cavity of the centrifugal microfluidic biochip by a liquid-conducting conduit connecting the first cavity to the second cavity, comprising:
- a. generating a predetermined gas and/or vapor pressure driving the liquid received by the first cavity from the first cavity through the liquid-carrying conduit to the second cavity by adjusting the first cavity to a first predetermined temperature while simultaneously adjusting a gas-filled third cavity, which is connected to the first cavity by a gas-carrying conduit, to a second predetermined temperature which is lower than the first predetermined temperature,
- b. generating a predetermined gas pressure in the third cavity by adjusting the third cavity to a third predetermined temperature, and
- c. allowing the gas pressure generated in the third cavity to act on the interior of the first cavity by means of the gas-conducting conduit connecting the third cavity to the first cavity and thereby causing the liquid received by the first cavity to be completely transferred from the first cavity through the liquid-conducting conduit into the second cavity.
A system comprising
- a Centrifugal Microfluidic Biochip having
- a temperature-controllable first cavity designed to receive a liquid,
- a second cavity designed to receive liquid pumped from the first cavity into the second cavity, and
- a liquid-conducting conduit connecting the first cavity to the second cavity,
- gas-filled third cavity connected to the first cavity by means of an exclusively gas-conducting conduit, and
- a centrifuge having
- a receptacle receiving the centrifugal microfluidic biochip, having
- a first device for temperature control of the first cavity of the centrifugal microfluidic biochip and
- a second device for temperature control of the third cavity of the centrifugal microfluidic biochip,
- a controller which is designed
- in a first step for generating a predetermined gas and/or vapor pressure driving a liquid received by the first cavity from the first cavity through the liquid-carrying conduit to the second cavity by adjusting the first cavity to a first predetermined temperature while simultaneously adjusting the gas-filled third cavity to a second predetermined temperature which is lower than the first predetermined temperature, and,
- in a second step for generating a predetermined gas pressure in the third cavity by adjusting the third cavity to a third predetermined temperature,
- in order to transfer the liquid received by the first cavity from the first cavity completely into the second cavity through the liquid-conducting conduit.
