Surface plasmon resonance catalyst and chemical reaction system

A flow chemical reaction system, the system comprising:

• a flow reactor comprising an elongated tube with an upstream end and a downstream end;
• a reactant supply operably connected to the flow reactor and configured to supply ammonia gas into the elongated tube to flow inside the elongated tube in a flow direction from the upstream end toward the downstream end;
• and
• glass disc catalyst devices arranged inside the elongated tube and spaced apart from each other in the flow direction;
• wherein at least part of the glass disc catalyst devices individually comprises a glass disc with multiple through-holes formed therein such that the gas passes through at least part of the multiple through-holes of the individual glass disc catalyst device,
• wherein at least part of the glass disc catalyst devices individually further comprises a metal nanoparticles bound to the glass disc thereof such that at least part of the metal nanoparticles are bound to surfaces of at least part of the multiple through-holes of the glass disc,
• wherein the system further comprises at least one light source configured to irradiate light beams for illuminating the at least part of the glass disc catalyst devices, and
• wherein the glass disc catalyst devices are arranged inside the elongated tube to allow the gas to pass through at least part of the through-holes formed therein such that the gas advances inside the elongated tube in the flow direction and passes by at least part of the metal nanoparticles that are bound to the glass discs and illuminated by at least part of the light beams, which causes surface plasmon resonance in at least part of the metal nanoparticles to facilitate ammonia cracking inside the elongated tube.
