Aspects of the present invention provide a device and method for brewing hot drinks The device comprises: a receptacle for holding a liquid, the receptacle comprising a base that sits on a heat source and a mouth defining an opening opposite the base; a basket positionable within the opening and extending into the receptacle; and a support structure surrounding the basket, the support structure comprising one or more openings through which liquid may pass upwardly from the receptacle as the liquid boils and subsequently downwardly into the basket as the liquid cools, the support structure further being arranged to substantially surround and support the basket.
