Seeding row unit having a primary actuator to adjust depth and to raise and lower the seeding row unit

A row unit for depositing seeds in a furrow formed in soil, the row unit comprising:

• a seed deposit assembly comprising a gage wheel and a disk, the gage wheel positioned to contact a top surface of the soil and the disk positioned to cut the furrow in the soil for receiving the deposited seeds;
• a linkage assembly coupled to the seed deposit assembly, the linkage assembly comprising a main arm and a raise/lower arm, the raise/lower arm pivotally coupled to the main arm at a pivot and comprising a slotted portion having a slot;
• a primary actuator pivotally coupled to the raise/lower arm and actuatable between a retracted position and an extended position to rotate the raise/lower arm relative to the main arm at the pivot;
• and
• a limit arm coupled to the main arm at the pivot and comprising an extension that extends into the slot of the slotted portion, the extension being movable within the slot between a first end of the slot and a second end of the slot as the raise/lower arm rotates relative to the main arm,
• wherein, in response to the extension contacting the first end of the slot, the raise/lower arm and the main arm rotate together about the pivot upon further actuation of the primary actuator toward the retracted position.

A row unit for depositing seeds in a furrow formed in soil, the row unit comprising:

• a seed deposit assembly comprising a gage wheel and a disk, the gage wheel positioned to contact a top surface of the soil and the disk positioned to cut the furrow in the soil for receiving the deposited seeds;
• a linkage assembly coupled to the seed deposit assembly, the linkage assembly comprising a main arm and a raise/lower arm, the raise/lower arm pivotally coupled to the main arm at a pivot and comprising a slotted portion having a slot;
• a primary actuator pivotally coupled to the raise/lower arm and actuatable between a retracted position and an extended position to rotate the raise/lower arm relative to the main arm;
• a push arm coupled to the main arm at the pivot such that the push arm rotates with the main arm about the pivot as the primary actuator rotates the raise/lower arm relative to the main arm;
• and
• a depth adjusting linkage engaged with the push arm and comprising a linkage limit arm, the linkage limit arm having a pin extending into the slot of the slotted portion, the pin being movable within the slot between a first end of the slot and a second end of the slot,
• wherein, when the pin contacts the first end of the slot, the raise/lower arm and the main arm rotate together about the pivot upon further actuation of the primary actuator toward the retracted position.

A row unit for depositing seeds in a furrow formed in soil, the row unit comprising:

• a seed deposit assembly comprising a gaging member positioned to contact a top surface of the soil and a cutting member positioned to cut the furrow in the soil for receiving the deposited seeds;
• a linkage assembly coupled to the seed deposit assembly, the linkage assembly comprising a first link and a second link, the first link pivotally coupled to the second link at a pivot, the first link comprising a slotted portion having a slot;
• a primary actuator coupled to the first link and actuatable to rotate the first link relative to the second link;
• and
• a limiting device coupled to the second link and extending into the slot of the slotted portion, the limiting device being movable within the slot between a first end of the slot and a second end of the slot as the first link rotates relative to the second link;
• wherein, when the limiting device contacts the first end of the slot, the first link and the second link rotate together about the pivot upon further actuation of the primary actuator.
