Abstract
A display device comprises: a display module; a module cover disposed at the rear surface of the display module and including a mounting part to which a circuit board is fastened; a printed circuit board fastened to the mounting part; and an inner plate disposed between the display module and the module cover, wherein the inner plate has a size corresponding to the size of the mounting part and is disposed at the front surface of the mounting part. The display device can reduce the scale of the inner plate, and thus the manufacturing cost and weight thereof can be reduced.
Claims22
A display device comprising:
- a display module;
- a module cover disposed behind the display module and having a peripheral bead that includes
- (i) a protruding portion rearwardly protruding away from a rear surface of the display module, and
- (ii) an inclined portion extending inwardly from the protruding portion;
- an inner plate disposed between the display module and the module cover and limited in area to correspond to a mounting region on which one or more printed circuit boards (PCBs) are mounted;
- and
- a thermal interface assembly comprising
- an adhesive layer located on the protruding portion, and
- a thermally-conductive, elastically-compressible filler located on the inclined portion,
- wherein the filler substantially fills a gap defined by the inclined portion to establish a continuous heat-transfer path between a rear surface of the display module and the module cover, and
- wherein, under a predefined steady-state power profile of the PCBs, the thermal interface assembly reduces a maximum temperature in a region of the peripheral bead by at least 5 °C compared to an otherwise identical structure lacking the filler.
A method of assembling a display device, the method comprising:
- press-forming a module cover to include a peripheral bead having a most-rearward protruding portion and an inwardly-extending inclined portion;
- mounting one or more PCBs to a mounting region of the module cover;
- disposing an inner plate only in an area corresponding to the mounting region;
- placing an adhesive tape on the protruding portion;
- and
- disposing a thermally-conductive elastic cushion on the inclined portion such that, upon final assembly with a display module, the cushion substantially eliminates an air gap at the inclined portion and contacts the display module to form a continuous thermal path.
A display device comprising:
- a display module;
- a module cover disposed behind the display module and having a peripheral bead that includes
- (i) a protruding portion rearwardly protruding away from a rear surface of the display module, and
- (ii) an inclined portion extending inwardly from the protruding portion toward the rear surface of the display module;
- an inner plate disposed between the display module and the module cover and limited in area to correspond to a mounting region on which one or more PCBs are mounted;
- an adhesive layer located on the protruding portion;
- and
- a thermally conductive, elastically compressible filler located on the inclined portion,
- the filler being configured to conform to and substantially fill a gap defined by the inclined portion and the display module
- such that the filler establishes a continuous contact interface between the inclined portion and the display module and inhibits formation of an air space along the inclined portion,
- wherein the protruding portion defines a maximum separation distance between the module cover and the display module relative to any other region of the module cover.
