Abstract
An information handling system camera coupled by a bracket to a display in a first position outside of a perimeter of the display panel and slides a forward housing portion in toward the display panel to a second position that activates the camera to capture visual images. The forward housing portion has a lens and image sensor that interfaces through a flexible cable with an image processor of rearward housing portion. A tunable lens module having a tunable lens couples to the forward housing to portion to adjust focus of images captured by the lens and image sensor.
Claims20
An information handling system comprising:
- a processor operable to execute instructions to process information;
- a memory interfaced with the processor and operable to store the instructions and information;
- a display interfaced with the processor and operable to present the information as visual images;
- a camera coupled to a perimeter of the display and interfaced with the processor, the camera having a housing containing a lens aligned with an image sensor to capture visual images;
- and
- a tunable lens module coupled to the housing to align a tunable lens with the lens, the tunable lens changing shape to adjust a focus of light entering the lens.
A method for capturing visual images with a camera, the method comprising:
- coupling a lens and image sensor in a first housing portion;
- coupling an image processor in a second housing portion;
- interfacing the image sensor with the image processor by a flexible cable extending between the first housing portion and the second housing portion;
- coupling a tunable lens module having a tunable lens to the front housing portion to align the tunable lens and the lens;
- and
- controlling the tunable lens from the image processor to adjust focus through the lens and image sensor.
A camera comprising:
- a front housing portion;
- a rear housing portion slidingly engaged with the front housing portion;
- a lens coupled in the front housing portion;
- an image sensor coupled in the front housing portion and aligned with the lens;
- a tunable lens module coupled to the front housing portion to align a tunable lens with the lens, the tunable lens changing shape to adjust a focus of light entering the lens.
