Abstract
A washing machine includes a first chamber configured to store liquid carbon dioxide; a second chamber configured to store a washing solvent; a washing chamber configured to receive at least one of the liquid carbon dioxide or the washing solvent; a sensor configured to detect contaminants on laundry in the washing chamber, and output contamination information about the detected contaminants; and a processor configured to adjust a ratio of the liquid carbon dioxide and the washing solvent to be supplied to the washing chamber based on the contamination information.
Claims20
A washing machine comprising:
- a first chamber configured to store liquid carbon dioxide;
- a second chamber configured to store a washing solvent;
- a washing chamber configured to receive at least one of the liquid carbon dioxide or the washing solvent;
- a sensor configured to:
- detect contaminants on laundry in the washing chamber;
- and
- output contamination information about the detected contaminants;
- and
- a processor configured to adjust a ratio of the liquid carbon dioxide and the washing solvent to be supplied to the washing chamber based on the contamination information.
A method for controlling a washing machine, the method comprising:
- generating a washing liquid by mixing liquid carbon dioxide in a first chamber and a washing solvent in a second chamber based on a preset ratio;
- supplying the generated washing liquid to a washing chamber;
- rotating a drum in the washing chamber for a preset time;
- stopping the drum based on an elapse of the preset time;
- recognizing a type of contaminants based on contamination information about the contaminants on laundry in the drum;
- determining a ratio of the liquid carbon dioxide and the washing solvent based on the recognized type of contaminants;
- supplying at least one of the liquid carbon dioxide or the washing solvent to the washing chamber to adjust the preset ratio to the determined ratio;
- and
- washing the laundry by rotating the drum.
An apparatus comprising:
- a first chamber configured to store liquid carbon dioxide;
- a second chamber configured to store a washing solvent;
- a third chamber configured to receive at least one of the liquid carbon dioxide or the washing solvent;
- one or more sensors configured to:
- detect contaminants on laundry in the third chamber;
- and
- output information about the detected contaminants;
- and
- one or more processors configured to adjust a ratio of the liquid carbon dioxide and the washing solvent to be supplied to the third chamber based on the information.
