Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes: a tray configured to hold a cartridge containing toner; a movement unit configured to move the tray in a range including a first position and a second position; and a control unit configured to control movement of the tray by controlling the movement unit, and, at startup of the image forming apparatus, determine whether to execute position finalizing control for setting a position of the tray to the first position or the second position, based on tray information including tray position information pertaining to the position of the tray.

An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a tray configured to hold a cartridge containing toner;
- a movement unit configured to move the tray in a range including a first position and a second position;
- and
- a control unit configured to control movement of the tray by controlling the movement unit, and, at startup of the image forming apparatus, determine whether to execute position finalizing control for setting a position of the tray to the first position or the second position, based on tray information including tray position information pertaining to the position of the tray.
