A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a core-shell nanoparticle, the core comprising a single protein, and the shell consisting essentially of a plurality of polynucleotides, the polynucleotides attached to the single protein surface via covalent bonds,
- wherein the density of polynucleotides on the surface of the single protein is at least 10 pmol/cm2, and
- wherein the single protein is a catalytically-active protein or a therapeutic protein.
