Rib fixation systems, methods, and devices

Abstract

Systems, methods, and devices disclosed herein include a rib fixation device with an elongated body having a first sidewall and a second sidewall. A hinge is formed into a top portion of the elongated body such that the first sidewall is separable from the second sidewall to form a gap at a bottom portion of the elongated body. Additionally, the rib fixation device includes one or more dimension(s), such as a width dimension of the elongated body, which corresponds to one or more dimension(s) of a target rib, such that the elongated body is operable for placement around a damaged portion of the target rib. The device also includes a tightening mechanism (e.g., a threaded screw) for bringing the first sidewall and the second sidewall together during a placement procedure. Furthermore, the elongated body includes one or more portal(s) to receive a bone growth regenerative putty and/or bicortical screws.
