Abstract
Systems and methods of evaluating a patient comprise the steps of obtaining temporal data of the patient after an event, monitoring a plurality of patient parameters, compiling patient data based on the temporal data and patient parameters, determining a state or change in state of the patient based on the compiled patient data, and alerting medical staff of the state or change in state.
Claims20
A method of evaluating a patient, comprising the steps of, on a patient monitoring device:
- compiling a database of data of a plurality of known conditions;
- obtaining plurality of patient parameters data from the patient;
- comparing the patient parameters to the data of the plurality of known conditions;
- based on the comparison, determining a probability that the patient has at least one of the plurality of the known conditions;
- diagnosing the patient based on a highest probability that the patient has at least one of the plurality of the known conditions;
- determining a probability that the diagnosis is accurate;
- updating the database with the diagnosis;
- reevaluating the patient parameter data based on the updated database;
- updating the diagnosis based on the reevaluated patient parameter data;
- and
- treating the patient based on the updated diagnosis, wherein the treatment is at least one of administering or adjusting a drug dosage and adjusting a ventilator.

A monitoring device for evaluating a patient, comprising:
- a database of data of a plurality of known conditions;
- at least one input device adapted to obtain a plurality of patient parameters data from the patient;
- software executing on the monitoring device and in data communication with the database and the at least one input device, wherein the software:
- compares the patient parameters to the data of the plurality of known conditions;
- based on the comparison, determines a probability that the patient has at least one of the plurality of the known conditions;
- diagnoses the patient based on a highest probability that the patient has at least one of the plurality of the known conditions;
- determines a probability that the diagnosis is accurate;
- updates the database with the diagnosis;
- reevaluates the patient parameter data based on the updated database;
- updates the diagnosis based on the reevaluated patient parameter data;
- and
- treats the patient based on the updated diagnosis, wherein the treatment is at least one of administering or adjusting a drug dosage and adjusting a ventilator.
