Abstract
Disclosed in certain embodiments is a delayed release softgel capsules comprise a fill material that is encapsulated in a pH dependent shell composition, the pH dependent shell composition including pectin and gellan gum. Also disclosed are methods of preparing any of the delayed release softgel capsules described herein and methods of use thereof.

A delayed release softgel capsule comprising:
- a fill material comprising at least one active agent;
- and
- a shell composition,
- wherein the shell composition comprises gelatin, and a pH dependent polymer consisting essentially of pectin and gellan gum, and
- wherein the shell composition does not rupture at a pH of 4 for a time period of at least about 15 minutes when measured with a USP Apparatus II with paddles at about 50 RPM, 90 ml 0.1 N HCl acidic media adjusted to pH with phosphate buffer.

A process of preparing a delayed release softgel capsule comprising:
- preparing a fill material comprising an active agent;
- encapsulating the fill material with a shell composition to form a delayed release softgel capsule, wherein the shell composition is prepared by admixing gelatin, pectin, and gellan gum to form a wet gel mass;
- and
- drying the delayed release softgel capsule.
