Cooking appliance image enhanced meal cook cycle

A method of operating a cooking appliance, the cooking appliance comprising a casing defining a cooking cavity, a turntable rotatably mounted in the cooking cavity, a first heating module, a second heating module, and a camera assembly, the method comprising:

• receiving, by a controller of the cooking appliance, an input indicating that the cooking appliance is to operate in a meal cook cycle, the meal cook cycle comprising a first stage and a second stage;
• obtaining a first image with the camera assembly;
• analyzing the first image to determine a first position of the turntable within the cooking cavity;
• performing the first stage of the meal cook cycle after determining the first position of the turntable, wherein the first stage of the meal cook cycle comprises operating at least one of the first heating module and the second heating module based on the determined first position of the turntable within the cooking cavity and rotating the turntable from the first position while operating the at least one of the first heating module and the second heating module;
• obtaining a second image with the camera assembly after the first stage of the meal cook cycle;
• analyzing the second image to determine a second position of the turntable within the cooking cavity;
• and
• performing the second stage of the meal cook cycle after determining the second position of the turntable, wherein the second stage of the meal cook cycle comprises operating at least one of the first heating module and the second heating module based on the determined second position of the turntable within the cooking cavity.
