System and method enabling mobile near-field communication to update display on a payment card

A computer-implemented method, comprising:

• receiving, by a server from an application executing on a processor of a mobile device, a request to reissue a card number of a contactless card, wherein the request comprises information associated with the mobile device;
• authorizing, by the server, the request based at least in part on a determination that the contactless card is associated with the information associated with the mobile device;
• sending, by the server to the application, authorization of the request;
• sending, by the server and to the application, verification that the contactless card is a valid card associated with the application;
• and
• sending, by the server to the application, an updated card number signal to assign an updated card number and an updated encryption key to the contactless card based on the authorization.

A server comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
• receive, from an application executing on a mobile device, a request to reissue a card number of a contactless card, wherein the request comprises information associated with the mobile device;
• authorize, by the server, the request based at least in part on a determination that the contactless card is associated with the information associated with the mobile device;
• send, by the server to the application, authorization of the request;
• send, by the server and to the application, verification that the contactless card is a valid card associated with the application;
• and
• send, by the server to the application, an updated card number signal to assign an updated card number and an updated encryption key to the contactless card based on the authorization.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions, which are comprised in a server application, that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

• receive, from a mobile application executing on a mobile device, a request to reissue a card number of a contactless card, wherein the request comprises information associated with the mobile device;
• authorize, by the processor, the request based at least in part on a determination that the contactless card is associated with the information associated with the mobile device;
• send, by the processor to the mobile application, authorization of the request;
• send, by the processor and to the mobile application, verification that the contactless card is a valid card associated with the mobile application;
• and
• send, by the processor to the mobile application, an updated card number signal to assign an updated card number and an updated encryption key to the contactless card based on the authorization.
