Abstract
A ballistic shield is provided that is mountable onto a base interface, such as a vehicle door panel, to provide protection to a user while inside the vehicle and also is separable from the interior door that provides protection to the user when outside of the vehicle. The ballistic shield can be mountable to the inside of the vehicle door in either an upright orientation or a prone orientation depending on the configuration of the vehicle door at the discretion of the user. The ballistic shield greatly increases the inherent bullet penetration resistance of the vehicle door.
Claims6
A ballistic shield having an upper aim-and-view slot for receiving and positioning a weapon, and a movable auxiliary section of armor that is movable rotationally or slidingly to substantially close the aim and view slot around a barrel of the weapon when the user desires.
A ballistic shield and a vehicle door, the vehicle door securely affixed to a base armor interface in which hardware is affixed for mounting a ballistic shield onto the inside of the door for added ballistic protection of the occupant while allowing easy removal of the ballistic shield for use outside of the vehicle.
