Cleaning operation management for a cooking appliance

A cleaning system for a cooking appliance, comprising:

• a camera configured to capture images of a cooking cavity of said cooking appliance;
• an indicator;
• and
• control circuitry in communication with the camera and the indicator, the control circuitry configured to:
• determine a cleanliness level corresponding to a cleanliness of the cooking appliance based on the images;
• determine a food history factor based on previous cooking cycles;
• adjust the cleanliness level based on the food history factor;
• and
• select a target cleaning operation for the cooking appliance based on the cleanliness level.

A cleaning system for a cooking appliance, comprising:

• a camera configured to capture images of a cooking cavity of said cooking appliance;
• an indicator;
• and
• control circuitry in communication with the camera and the indicator, the control circuitry configured to:
• detect food residue in the cooking cavity;
• classify the cooking cavity with a cleanliness level based on the food residue detected;
• and
• select a target cleaning operation for said cooking appliance based on the cleanliness level.
