Abstract
The present application concerns a novel process suitable for synthesizing buprenorphine and the novel intermediates products involved by said process, as well as the buprenorphine and derivatives thereof obtainable by said process.

A process for preparing buprenorphine or a derivative of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- characterized in that said process involves the compound of formula (A):
- wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl.
The process of claim 6, wherein crystallization is performed in methanol.
The process of claim 7, wherein the cleaving step is carried out on the isolated O-demethylated dimer of formula (IV) resulting from the O-demethylation step:
- wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl.
A compound of formula (A):
- wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl.
A compound of formula (IV):
- wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl.
The compound of claim 10, wherein R is t-butyl.
A compound of formula (V):
- Wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl.
