Ultrafiltration membrane for emulsion separation

Abstract

An ultrafiltration membrane comprising: a microporous support layer including polyvinylidene fluoride; and, an active layer disposed on and in the support layer. The active layer comprises a polyamide matrix in which are dispersed nanoparticles of strontium titanate (SrTiO3) which have been functionalized with an amino-functional alkoxysilane. The nanoparticles of strontium titanate are covalently bonded to the polyamide matrix, and the polyamide matrix is obtained by the polycondensation reaction of a C2-C6 alkylene diamine and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or a reactive derivative thereof.
