Abstract
A containment isolation system that includes a containment vessel at least partially submerged in a pool of water. The depth of the containment vessel within the pool of water may vary, as required. A reactor pressure vessel disposed within the containment vessel with a space between the containment vessel and the reactor pressure vessel to maintain a separation between them. The containment isolation system may also include an emergency core cooling system couplable to the reactor pressure vessel.
Claims20
A containment isolation system, comprising:
- a containment vessel at least partially submerged in a water pool,
- a reactor pressure vessel disposed within the containment vessel,
- a space between the containment vessel and the reactor pressure vessel, and
- an emergency core cooling system.
A reactor core cooling system, comprising:
- a containment vessel at least partially submerged in a water pool,
- a reactor pressure vessel disposed within the containment vessel,
- a space between the containment vessel and the reactor pressure vessel,
- a vacuum breaker penetrating the containment vessel,
- a vent valve penetrating an upper end of the reactor pressure vessel, and
- a recirculation valve penetrating a lower end of the reactor pressure vessel.
A nuclear power plant system, comprising:
- a containment vessel at least partially submerged in a water pool,
- a reactor pressure vessel disposed within the containment vessel,
- a space between the containment vessel and the reactor pressure vessel,
- an emergency core cooling system, and
- a decay heat removal system.
