Abstract

The present disclosure provides for compositions and methods for adequate clarification of water containing suspended fish solids, such as pumping water. The present composition can be used in solid-liquid separation processes, such as when making fishmeal or flour in the fish industry. The method involves treating water containing suspended fish solids, such as pumping water. The method includes adding an organic coagulant to the pumping water followed by one or more flocculants. The composition can be added to a suspension of water to aid in the solid-liquid separation of fish fat from the total soluble solids in pumping water when making, for example, fishmeal or flour.
