Abstract

The present invention relates to a hydrothermal treatment method for MWW type zeolite supports and a method for preparing a Mo based methane dehydroaromatization catalyst using an MWW type zeolite support that has been dealuminated through the hydrothermal treatment. The method includes synthesizing a proton type zeolite support and hydrothermally treating the synthesized proton type zeolite support at 300 to 450° C. under an airflow containing a predetermined amount of steam to obtain a dealuminated zeolite support. Through the hydrothermal treatment, an MWW type zeolite support can be modified and dealuminated. According to the present invention, dealumination of the zeolite enables control of Brønsted acid sites and reduction of hard coke formation, thereby improving BTX (benzene, toluene, xylenes) selectivity in the methane dehydroaromatization reaction. The invention further enables improvement of the performance of the Mo based methane dehydroaromatization catalyst prepared using the dealuminated support.
