Mattress with antimicrobial air ventilation unit with integral LED UV light source and such an air ventilation unit

A mattress having a substantially rectangular volume created by a stack of multiple parallel layers comprising a carrier layer consisting of an empty space in which a plurality of supporting springs are arranged, wherein the mattress comprises an antimicrobial air ventilation unit for treating air with UVC light, the antimicrobial air ventilation unit being arranged within the layer with the plurality of supporting springs in the volume of the mattress and comprising:

• at least one centrifugal fan unit comprising an impeller and a ducted fan housing;
• and
• at least one UVC radiation unit comprising (i) at least one UVC-LED and optionally (ii) at least one UVC directing lens,
• wherein the UVC radiation unit(s) are configured to allow irradiation of air passing through the antimicrobial air ventilation unit,
• wherein the at least one UVC radiation unit is configured to illuminate at least a part of the interior of the ducted fan housing with UVC light.
