Abstract
Method and apparatus for providing information to a network are disclosed. An eNodeB (eNB) may receive pattern information relating to connection state management behavior of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The eNB may receive this information over S1 signaling when a connection is established. The eNB may determine a time factor for connection state management, wherein the time factor may be based on the received information. The determine time factor may be used to adjust connection states of the WTRU.
Claims10
A method for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message from a base station while the WTRU is operating in a CONNECTED state with an established RRC connection;
- transitioning, based on the RRC message, out of the CONNECTED state to operate in a DORMANT state with the established RRC connection, wherein operating in the DORMANT state is different from operating in an IDLE state;
- maintaining radio bearer information in a context of the WTRU while operating in the DORMANT state;
- and
- receiving, while operating in the DORMANT state, a paging message from the base station, wherein the paging message comprises a paging record including an identifier specific to the WTRU.
A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the WTRU comprising:
- a processor operatively coupled to a transceiver, the processor and transceiver configured to receive a radio resource control (RRC) message from a base station while the WTRU is operating in a CONNECTED state with an established RRC connection;
- the processor and transceiver configured to transition, based on the RRC message, out of the CONNECTED state to operate in a DORMANT state with the established RRC connection, wherein operating in the DORMANT state is different from operating in an IDLE state;
- the processor and transceiver configured to maintain radio bearer information in a context of the WTRU while operating in the DORMANT state;
- and
- the processor and transceiver configured to receive, while operating in the DORMANT state, a paging message from the base station, wherein the paging message comprises a paging record including an identifier specific to the WTRU.
