A communication method and a related apparatus. The communication method includes: An application server (AS) sends a data stream, where the data stream includes at least two substreams, a first substream in the at least two substreams carries a first substream identifier, the at least two substreams correspond to a same 5-tuple, and substreams in the at least two substreams correspond to different substream identifiers. A user plane function (UPF) receives the data stream, and obtains the first substream identifier of the first substream from the at least two substreams included in the data stream; and maps the first substream to a first quality of service (QoS) flow indicated by a first QoS flow identifier (QFI) corresponding to the first substream identifier. According to the method, substreams in data streams corresponding to different QoS requirements can be mapped to different QoS flows by using substream identifiers of the substreams.

The method according to claim 34, wherein the different substream identifiers are track identifiers, and the substreams in the data stream correspond to video streams, audio streams, or tactile streams in a same service when encapsulation and transmission are based on the MoQ protocol.
The method according to claim 43, wherein the different substream identifiers are stream identifiers, and the substreams in the data stream correspond to video streams, audio streams, or tactile streams in a same service when encapsulation and transmission are based on the QUIC protocol.
The method according to claim 78, wherein each of the different substream identifiers is carried in metadata of an MoQ packet comprising the data stream.
