The method comprises: when a protocol connection with a second network device is interrupted, acquiring a valid lifetime value, which is comprised in each remote MAC-IP entry, wherein the valid lifetime value is used for indicating a valid lifetime of an IP address, which is comprised in the remote MAC-IP entry; and in response to determining that the interruption duration of the protocol connection reaches the valid lifetime value, deleting at least one remote MAC-IP entry. In this way, illegitimate messages can be prevented from entering a network, and the wasting of resources is avoided, thereby improving the network security.
