Photovoltaic modules with panel-panel electrical interconnects via mechanical mounts

A photovoltaic (PV) system comprising one or more PV modules, the photovoltaic system further comprising:

• a rack having a first side and a second side opposing the first side;
• a PV array having two or more PV modules coupled together based on orientation of the two or more PV modules, each PV module comprising:
• a PV layer having a first side and a second side opposite the first side;
• and
• a conductive layer coupled to the second side of the PV layer, the conductive layer further comprising:
• a positive bus line;
• a carrier bus line;
• a negative bus line, wherein the positive, carrier, and negative bus lines extend in a first direction;
• and
• a vertical bus line that extends substantially orthogonally to the first direction, wherein the vertical bus line operable to electrically couple to the positive, carrier, and negative bus lines;
• one or more bridging connectors operable to selectively electrically couple a given bus line of a first PV module with another bus line of the second PV module depending on a conductive character of a user-selectable fastener.

A connector for mechanically and electrically coupling two or more photovoltaic (PV) modules of a PV system, the connector comprising:

• a first end for receiving a given bus line of a first PV module;
• a second end for receiving another bus line of a second PV module;
• a substrate that is conductive and operable to electrically couple the given bus line to the another bus line;
• one or more through holes that extend through the respective connector and the substrate, and are configured to receive a fastener.
