Abstract

A switching device having an electrical drive, which includes an armature movably supported along a first adjustment path. A mechanical switch includes a fixed contact and a contact bridge with a moving contact. The contact bridge being movably supported in relation to the fixed contact along a second adjustment path such that the moving contact rests against the fixed contact in a closed state of the mechanical switch. The moving contact being situated at a distance from the fixed contact in an opened state. The contact bridge is movably supported in relation to the armature. An apparatus compensates for a burn-off of the moving contact and/or the fixed contact. The switching device is designed such that, when the mechanical switch is in the closed state, a start of a movement of the armature results in a start of a movement of the contact bridge.
