Methods of forming insulated magnet wire including extruded insulation formed from a blend of different polymeric materials are described. An example method can include: providing a conductor. Providing a blended thermoplastic material for extrusion, the blended thermoplastic material comprising a blend of: a first polymeric material, a second polymeric material, and a third polymeric material. Extruding the blended thermoplastic material to form a thermoplastic insulation layer around the conductor. For the blend, a first polymeric material, such as polyetheretherketone, may have a thermal index above 240° C. Second and third polymeric materials, such as polyphenylsulfone and polyethersulfone, may have lower thermal indexes.
