Product registration system

A retail store product registration system for fraud prevention, the system comprising:

• a communication network;
• a shopping cart with a cart product placement area into which products selected by a customer using the shopping cart can be placed;
• a mobile product registration terminal on the shopping cart and connected to the communication network, the mobile product registration terminal having:
• a product scanner to acquire product information from products selected by the customer,
• a display screen facing towards a customer user position where the customer using the shopping cart may be present,
• a first camera facing towards the cart product placement area, and
• a second camera facing towards the customer user position;
• a store clerk terminal connected to the communication network;
• and
• a cart control server connected to the communication network and configured to:
• register products in a transaction table in response to a product registration operation performed on the mobile product registration terminal,
• cause a product registration screen to be displayed on a display of the mobile product registration terminal, the product registration screen including information of registered products in the transaction table
• cause a customer facial image captured by the second camera and a basket image captured by the first camera to be displayed on the display screen, and
• transmit a warning notification over the communication network to the store clerk terminal when a switching operation is performed to turn off the displaying of the customer facial image or the basket image.

A cart control server for a product registration system, the cart control server comprising:

• a communication interface connectable to a mobile product registration terminal mounted on a shopping cart and with which a customer performs a registration operation on products while moving around a sales floor of a store;
• and
• a processor configured to:
• register products in a sales transaction based on product information received via the communication interface from the mobile product registration terminal in the registration operation,
• cause at least one of a customer facial image captured by a first camera of the mobile product registration terminal and a basket image captured by a second camera of the mobile product registration terminal of a product placement area of the shopping cart to be a displayed on a display screen of the mobile product registration terminal, and
• output a notification via the communication interface to a store clerk terminal when a displaying of the at least one of the customer facial image and the basket image is ended by the customer by an operation at the mobile product registration terminal.
