Abstract
The present application is directed to a microorganism containing at least one heterologous gene coding for a L-arginine:glycine amidinotransferase (AGAT) and at least one heterologous L-threonine aldolase gene (lta). Disclosed herein is a method for the fermentative production of guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) using such microorganism. Herein is also disclosed a method for the fermentative production of creatine.
Claims14
A microorganism having an increased ability to produce L-arginine from L-omithine compared with the ability of a wildtype microorganism or of a non-modified microorganism, the microorganism comprising:
- at least one heterologous gene coding for a protein having the function of a L-arginine:glycine amidinotransferase and
- at least one heterologous gene coding for a protein having the function of a L-threonine aldolase.
