Abstract
Systems and methods can involve wedge dissectors attached to strips in turn attached to medical balloons, for forming serrations within vascular wall tissue for angioplasty as well reducing vessel recoil, reducing residual stenosis, and increasing volumetric blood flow post angioplasty. The design, methods of use, intended outcomes, and process to build this type of balloon is described herein.

A method comprising:
- positioning a catheter of an intravascular device at a treatment site in a vessel, the catheter comprising a balloon and a plurality of strips disposed on an outer surface of the balloon, each strip of the plurality of strips including a plurality of wedge dissectors spaced apart along a surface of each strip, wherein the energy sources comprise a pump as an ultrasonic emission source,
- inflating the balloon to produce a series of serrated lines;
- and
- applying ultrasonic emissions from the pump to plaque for calcium fracturing.

A method comprising:
- positioning a catheter of an intravascular device at a treatment site in a vessel, the catheter comprising a balloon and a plurality of strips disposed on an outer surface of the balloon, each strip of the plurality of strips including a plurality of wedge dissectors spaced apart along a surface of each strip, wherein the intravascular device comprises energy sources, wherein the energy sources comprise a pump as an ultrasonic emission source,
- producing a series of linearly oriented serrations into a vessel wall;
- and
- applying ultrasonic emissions from the pump to break plaque into smaller particles.

A method comprising:
- positioning a catheter of an intravascular device at a treatment site in a vessel, the catheter comprising a balloon and a plurality of strips disposed on an outer surface of the balloon, each strip of the plurality of strips including a plurality of wedge dissectors spaced apart along a surface of each strip, wherein the intravascular device comprises energy sources, wherein the energy sources comprise a pump as an ultrasonic emission source,
- forming serrations with the plurality of wedge dissectors which combine into a linear dissected line;
- and
- applying ultrasonic emissions for lithotripsy.
