Electric wheelchair

An electric wheelchair comprising:

• a vehicle body;
• a drive wheel that causes the vehicle body to travel;
• a motor that drives the drive wheel;
• a grip to be held by an operator and displaceable in a front-rear direction of the vehicle body by an operation of the operator;
• an operation detection unit that detects a position of the grip in the front-rear direction;
• a brake detection unit that detects a brake operation on the vehicle body by the operator;
• and
• a control device that controls the motor based on the position detected by the operation detection unit, wherein
• the control device performs control to apply a braking force to the motor according to a rotation speed of the drive wheel when the grip is in an operating state made by the operator, when the grip is in a holding state made by the operator, or when the brake detection unit is in a brake operation termination state, and
• when the grip is switched from the operating state to a non-operating state by the operator, when the grip is switched from the holding state to a non-holding state by the operator, or when the brake detection unit is switched from the brake operation termination state to a brake operation state, the control device controls the braking force applied to the motor to be greater than the braking force before switching.
