Abstract
Agricultural compositions are disclosed which comprise at least one isolated bacteriophage capable of infecting a plant pathogen of the genus Xanthomonas and, optionally, at least one isolated bacteriophage strain capable of infection the plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato. Uses thereof for treating bacterial spot and bacterial speck disease are also disclosed.

1-40. (canceled)
An agricultural composition comprising:
- (i) at least one isolated bacteriophage capable of infecting a plant pathogen of the genus Xanthomonas, said at least one bacteriophage having a genomic nucleic acid sequence at least 85% identical to the nucleic acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs:
- 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9;
- and
- (ii) an agriculturally acceptable carrier,
- wherein the composition comprises no more than 10 different strains of bacteriophage.
An article of manufacture comprising:
- (i) at least one bacteriophage capable of infecting a plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. Tomato, the bacteriophage having a genomic nucleic acid sequence at least 85% identical to the nucleic acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs:
- 1, 2, 3, or 4;
- and
- (ii) at least one bacteriophage capable of infecting a plant pathogen of the genus Xanthomonas having a genomic nucleic acid sequence at least 85% identical to the nucleic acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs:
- 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9;
- wherein the composition comprises no more than 10 bacteriophages capable of infecting pathogens of the species Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato and pathogens of the genus Xanthomonas.
A method of controlling or preventing bacterial spot disease of a tomato or pepper plant comprising contacting the tomato or pepper plant with an effective amount of at least one bacteriophage capable of infecting a pathogen of the genus Xanthomonas, said at least one bacteriophage having a genomic nucleic acid sequence at least 85% identical to the nucleic acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, thereby controlling or preventing the bacterial spot disease of the tomato or pepper plant.
