Abstract
According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus comprising at least one processing core and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processing core, cause the apparatus, at least to determine that a small data transmission, SDT, procedure is ongoing with a user equipment which is in a radio resource control inactive state, and send assistance information to a control plane entity of a centralized unit of a base station.

An apparatus comprising at least one processing core and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processing core, cause the apparatus, at least to:
- determine that a small data transmission;
- (SDT), procedure is ongoing with a user equipment which is in a radio resource control inactive state, and
- send assistance information to a control plane entity of a centralized unit of a base station.
An apparatus comprising at least one processing core and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processing core, cause the apparatus, at least to:
- receive assistance information from a radio access node, for an ongoing small data transmission;
- (SDT), procedure with a user equipment, (UE), wherein the apparatus is a control plane entity of a centralized unit for a base station, the base station comprising the centralized unit and a distributed unit, and
- determine, based at least in part on the received assistance information, whether to switch the radio resource control, (RRC), state of the UE.
