Video coding method and apparatus of chroma prediction

A video encoder, comprising:

• a video data memory, arranged to receive data to be encoded as a current block of pixels of a current picture of a video, wherein the current block comprises at least one chroma block;
• and
• an encoding circuit, arranged to perform encoding of the current block by a target inter prediction mode, wherein the encoding circuit comprises:
• a motion compensation circuit, arranged to obtain a motion compensation predictor of a chroma sample included in the at least one chroma block;
• and
• an inter chroma prediction circuit, arranged to obtain at least one cross-component predictor of the chroma sample, and determine inter prediction of the chroma sample by jointly considering the motion compensation predictor and the at least one cross-component predictor.

A video decoder, comprising:

• a video data memory, arranged to receive data to be decoded as a current block of pixels of a current picture of a video, wherein the current block comprises at least one chroma block;
• and
• a decoding circuit, arranged to perform decoding of the current block by a target inter prediction mode, wherein the decoding circuit comprises:
• a motion compensation circuit, arranged to obtain a motion compensation predictor of a chroma sample included in the at least one chroma block;
• and
• an inter chroma prediction circuit, arranged to obtain at least one cross-component predictor of the chroma sample, and determine inter prediction of the chroma sample by jointly considering the motion compensation predictor and the at least one cross-component predictor.
