Abstract

Embodiments of the present application relate to the technical field of network communications, and provide a method and an apparatus for multicast tunneling load balancing, a gateway device, and a storage medium. The method is applied to the gateway device which has established AMT tunnels with a plurality of relay devices. The method specifically comprises: receiving a multicast join request packet sent by a multicast receiver, wherein the multicast join request packet comprises information of a multicast group; acquiring a priority value and a load value of each of the plurality of relay devices, wherein the priority value is used for representing the multicast service quality of the relay device; selecting from among the plurality of relay devices a target relay device for the multicast group on the basis of the priority value and the load value of each relay device; and sending a first member update packet to the target relay device, wherein the first member update packet comprises the information of the multicast group, such that the target relay device forwards a multicast data stream of the multicast group for the multicast receiver. Therefore, the forwarding efficiency of the multicast data stream can be improved.
