The present application relates to the field of communications, and discloses a method and apparatus for determining a designated forwarder, and a network device. The method for determining a designated forwarder in embodiments of the present application comprises: generating (S101) first priority information, and carrying the first priority information in an Ethernet auto-discovery route; and sending (S102) the Ethernet auto-discovery route to a second border device, so that the second border device determines a designated forwarder according to the first priority information, wherein the second border device and a first border device belong to the same Ethernet segment.
