Surround-view imaging system with simultaneous tof and rgb image acquisition

Abstract

A surround-view imaging system for three dimensional imaging of a surrounding is described. An imager enables simultaneous time of flight and optical image acquisition with full sensor resolution. A first image detector and a cylindrical catadioptric lens system forms an inner volume with an entrance aperture and top and bottom surfaces Imaging light from the imager surrounding enters the inner volume by the entrance aperture, is firstly reflected towards the top surface by the bottom surface, is secondly reflected back to the bottom surface by the top surface, and leaves the inner volume towards the first image detector by a bottom aperture in the bottom surface for detecting imaging light. The imaging light spectrum comprises first and second spectral ranges, which are different. A spectral filtering element reflects only the first spectral range imaging light back to the bottom surface but transmits second spectral range imaging light.
