Lens assemblies

A method of fabricating a lens assembly, the method comprising:

• providing a frame defining a flange, wherein the flange is sized and shaped to support a lens, wherein the lens comprises an engaged surface;
• forming a recess along the flange, wherein the recess is sized and shaped to receive an adhesive, and wherein the flange is sized and shaped such that the adhesive contacts the engaged surface when the lens contacts the flange;
• applying a band along and near a perimeter edge of the engaged surface;
• shaping the recess to urge excessive adhesive toward the band;
• applying the adhesive into the recess;
• and placing a lens into contact with the flange and the adhesive.

An optical assembly, comprising:

• a lens comprising an engaged surface;
• a band extending along at least a portion of the engaged surface;
• a frame defining a flange sized and shaped to support the engaged surface, wherein the flange defines a recess sized and shaped to receive an adhesive, and wherein the recess is sized and shaped to urge excess adhesive toward the band;
• an additional frame defining an additional flange sized and shaped to support an additional lens, wherein the additional flange defines an additional recess sized and shaped to receive an additional adhesive;
• and an additional band extending along at least a portion of the additional lens, wherein the additional recess is sized and shaped to urge excess additional adhesive toward the additional band.
