Apparatus for protecting product packages with wrapping material and method

An apparatus for protecting angular-shaped product packages with wrapping material, the apparatus comprising

• at least one folding device comprising at least one folding means and at least one press part;
• and
• at least one holder means, which apparatus is arranged to
• press, by means of the at least one press part, wrapping material extending over the edges of an upper surface of the product package down to a distance of a turning angle from at least one side of the product package;
• hold, by means of the at least one holder means, the wrapping material folded from above to the at least one side of the product package and keep it at a distance of the turning angle from the at least one side of the product package;
• fold, by means of the at least one folding means, wrapping material extending over at least one side edge of an end of the product package against the at least one side of the product package and return the at least one folding means back to the initial position;
• and
• press down the wrapping material extending over the upper surface of the product package, by the at least one press part, over the wrapping material folded by means of the at least one folding means.

A method for protecting angular-shaped product packages with wrapping material by means of an apparatus, the apparatus comprising

• at least one folding device comprising at least one folding means and at least one press part;
• and
• at least one holder means, in which method
• wrapping material extending over the edges of an upper surface of the product package is pressed, by means of the at least one press part, down to a distance of a turning angle from at least one side of the product package;
• the wrapping material folded from above to the at least one side of the product package is held, by means of the at least one holder means, and kept at a distance of the turning angle from the at least one side of the product package;
• wrapping material extending over at least one side edge of an end of the product package is folded, by means of the at least one folding means, against the at least one side of the product package and the at least one folding means is returned back to the initial position;
• and
• the wrapping material extending over the upper surface of the product package is pressed down, by the at least one press part, over the wrapping material folded by means of the at least one folding means.
