Abstract
There is provided a method of preparing carbon particles and carbon particles prepared from the method. There is also provided a method of preparing a composite material. There is further provided a composite material and an article.
Claims21
A method of preparing carbon particles, comprising the steps of:
- (a) treating a mixture comprising (i) an inorganic salt and (ii) a solution comprising a carbon source hydrothermally to form a solution of carbon particles;
- and
- (b) collecting the carbon particles from the solution of the treating step (a).
Carbon particles prepared from a method comprising the steps of:
- (a) treating a mixture comprising (i) an inorganic salt and (ii) a solution comprising a carbon source hydrothermally to form a solution of carbon particles;
- and
- (b) collecting the carbon particles from the solution of the treating step (a).
A method of preparing a composite material, comprising the steps of:
- (a) forming a dispersion comprising carbon particles, a metal precursor, an amino additive and a solvent;
- (b) drying the dispersion of the forming step (a) to form a dried powder;
- and
- (c) heating the dried power of the drying step (b) in an atmosphere comprising an inert gas to obtain the composite material.

A composite material comprising a carbon support and a plurality of metal particles, wherein the metal particles are disposed within the carbon support.
A composite material prepared by a method comprising the steps of:
- (a) forming a dispersion comprising carbon particles, a metal precursor, an amino additive and a solvent;
- (b) drying the dispersion of the forming step (a) to form a dried powder;
- and
- (c) heating the dried powder of the drying step (b) in an atmosphere comprising an inert gas to obtain the composite material.
