A packaging assembly comprising a package containing an elongate product extending between a product first end and a product second end to thereby define an elongate axis, the package comprising a continuous sheet of material having a first end portion and a second end portion, a first side portion and a second side portion each extending in the direction of the elongate axis and between the first end portion and the second end portion, wherein the sheet of material is folded around the product and facing portions of the first side portion are secured to one another and facing parts of the second side portion are secured to one another and the first end portion (5a) and the second end portion are secured or sealed together to provide an openable seal at a location between the product first end and the product second end on an intended front face of the packaging assembly and transverse to the elongate axis.
A packaging assembly comprising a package containing an elongate foodstuff product extending between a product first end and a product second end to thereby define an elongate axis, the package comprising a continuous sheet of material having a first end portion and a second end portion, a first side portion and a second side portion, each of the first side portion and the second side portion extending in the direction of the elongate axis and between the first end portion and the second end portion, wherein the sheet of material is folded around the product and facing portions of the first side portion are secured to one another and facing parts of the second side portion are secured to one another and the first end portion and the second end portion are secured or sealed together to provide an openable seal at a location between the product first end and the product second end on an intended front face of the packaging assembly and transverse to the elongate axis.
A sheet material for forming an elongate package, the sheet material comprising a first end portion, a second end portion a first side portion and a second side portion, a principal axis extending between the first end portion and the second end portion, a product receiving portion being located between the first end portion and the second end portion and which product receiving portion is located between a first nominal or actual fold line and a second nominal or actual fold line, wherein the first end portion and the second end portion are both shorter than the length of the product receiving portion but the combined length of the first end portion and the second end portion is greater than the length of the product receiving portion and wherein one or both of the first end portion and the second end portion comprise a first adhesive to secure the first end portion to the second end portion to form an openable seal transverse to the principal axis and wherein at least a portion of the first side portion and the second side portion comprise second and third adhesive respectively to secure facing portions of the first side portion and facing portions of the second side portion.
A method of forming a packaging assembly comprising a package and an elongate product having a front face and a rear face, the method comprising forwarding a flexible material having a first edge and a second edge in a machine direction and securing the first edge to the second edge to form a tubular structure, wherein the first edge and the second edge together provide an openable seal, locating the elongate product within the tubular structure such that the front face of the product is adjacent the openable seal and the openable seal extends transversely with respect to the elongate product, securing the elongate product within the tubular structure by sealing facing portions of the flexible material either side of the elongate product.
