An actuator for piercing a capsule with a consumable product sealed therein and for dispensing the pierced capsule into a container, an upper end of the capsule being sealed and having an outwardly extending brim which, in use, is arranged within a rim associated with a mouth of the container, wherein the actuator is operated by a closure that is threadingly engageable with the container to urge the actuator against the capsule, the actuator having: one or more downwardly extending blades configured to pierce the seal of the capsule during rotation of the closure toward the capsule; and a bearing surface configured to increasingly bear against the brim of the capsule as the closure is rotated so as to urge the pierced capsule to drop through the rim into the container.
