Armrest for vehicle seat

An armrest assembly for a vehicle, comprising:

• a mounting bracket configured to be coupled to a seat frame assembly of the vehicle;
• a first armrest pivotably mounted on the mounting bracket and configured to be moved between a deployed position and a stowed position, the first armrest including a pivot rod extending through the mounting bracket so as to enable pivoting of the first armrest relative to the mounting bracket;
• and
• at least one of a first actuator or a first elastic member mounted on the pivot rod of the first armrest and configured to be mounted on at least one of the seat frame assembly of the vehicle or the mounting bracket, the at least one of the first actuator or the first elastic member configured to move the first armrest to the deployed position in response to the first armrest having been moved away from the deployed position to the stowed position or any position between the stowed position and the deployed position.

A method, comprising:

• providing a seat frame assembly of a vehicle including a seat bottom frame and a seat back frame extending upwardly away from the seat bottom frame, the seat back frame including a first support bar;
• coupling a mounting bracket of a first armrest assembly to the first support bar of the seat back frame;
• pivotably mounting a first armrest of the first armrest assembly on the mounting bracket, the first armrest being configured to be moved between a deployed position and a stowed position, the first armrest including a pivot rod extending through the mounting bracket so as to enable pivoting of the first armrest relative to the mounting bracket;
• and
• mounting at least one of a first actuator or a first elastic member on the pivot rod of the first armrest and on at least one of the seat frame assembly or the mounting bracket, the at least one of a first actuator or a first elastic member configured to move the first armrest to the deployed position in response to the first armrest having been moved away from the deployed position to the stowed position or any position between the stowed position and the deployed position.
