Abstract

A filter unit is described having a scissor lift mechanism to assist installing the cartridge. A recyclable filter cartridge with a reduced risk of failure has a delivery spool (21) and an uptake spool (22) located within an outer casing (20) which includes a partition wall (24) having mutually opposed wall portions (24a, 24b). A filter medium (26) wound about the delivery spool and the uptake spool is moved across a filtration window (25) in an indexing direction (A). The mutually opposed wall portions (24a, 24b) are configured such that the filter medium (26) is constrained to adopt a curved configuration in the indexing direction. The window (25) has transverse bars (29) which are recessed and offset on opposite sides of the filter medium.
