Abstract

A composite elastic edge trim and a method of making are presented. The composite elastic edge trim is made of fabric and includes an outermost edge formed by folding the fabric over itself, a distal zone, and a proximal zone between the distal zone and the fold. The proximal zone features a double adhesive layer bonding the fabric, while the distal zone has a single adhesive layer for fabric bonding. The method involves applying an adhesive layer to cover more than 50% of the fabric and folding the fabric, which may be performed in a single manufacturing operation using a heat press or continuous lamination. The proximal zone provides higher compression than the distal zone, resisting roll-over during use.
